Hill Annex Mine State Park

You'll need to take a tour to see the park. On the 1½-hour mine tour, a bus takes you around the open-pit operation where 64 million tons of iron ore were extracted. Excursions are held in summertime only, on Friday and Saturday. There's also a fossil tour both days at 10am.

Hill Annex is in Calument, midway between Hibbing and Grand Rapids.
