This octagonal red wooden church was built in 1976 to replace and replicate its 1753 predecessor that was destroyed by fire. The colour scheme is inspired by Sami clothing and the design reflects the Sami building style; in winter, the space between the timbers used to hold coffins awaiting the spring thaw, which allowed for graves to be dug.
