New attractions have begun opening again in China after the nationwide lockdown was lifted, and one of them is the country’s so-called “horizontal skyscraper” in the southwestern city of Chongqing.
The Crystal Skybridge is part of the Raffles City Chongqing skyscraper complex, and it has earned its nickname since it connects several parts of the complex sitting at 250m high. Now the first part of The Crystal has opened to the public – the Exploration Deck, the highest of its kind in this part of China.
Visitors to the Exploration Deck will be able to enjoy a stunning view of the megapolis’ skyline, as well as admire from above the merging of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers below them thanks to the glass floor of the deck. A feature that was meant specifically to give the “sensation of walking in mid-air”.
The experience actually starts from Level 1, where visitors can learn about the engineering behind the construction of The Crystal. From there, a super-fast elevator, which will bring them up more than forty floors in less than a minute. On Level 47 there’s another exhibition that imagines what a futuristic life on Mars would look like, and then visitors can step out into the open-air deck.
At the moment, only 3000 tickets per day are available because of the need to control crowds and make sure everyone can be safe. If you’re interested in knowing more about The Crystal Skybridge and its Exploration Deck, you can check out the official website here.
