About Phil
Phil was born in Kansas and has spent his life hiking around anywhere that is the opposite in geography to the flat plains of his home state. He found his heart happiest in the far north of Alaska and moved there thinking he was taking a summer-only rafting job in the Arctic. That turned into many bear-filled forest adventures and a little homestead near Denali today.
He has since found himself guiding camping trips and expeditions in Antarctica, to the geographic North Pole, and numerous other frosty places in the Arctic. Although he is a lover of cold and ski when it comes to work, he thaws out with occasional warm water sailing trips, desert backpacking trips, or other landscapes where he can put his hammock, kayak, and horseback skills to use.
His favorite and most used ports are Longyearbean, Svalbard and Ushuaia, Argentina - Ironically the Northernmost and Southernmost towns on Earth.
