About John
John loved (and still does) England's green and pleasant Ribble valley, where he grew up, but he was never content to stay in one place for too long, so the opportunity to travel and write for Lonely Planet came as a godsend. That was a few years ago, and John has since authored or co-authored approximately 150 Lonely Planet guidebook editions covering 20-odd countries scattered across the globe. Spain has been his home base since the 1990s and he remains as excited as ever about heading out to unfamiliar destinations, especially ones you can explore on foot.
