About Jay
Jay Jones is an award-winning journalist who succumbed to wanderlust while still a teenager when he traveled to Switzerland as an exchange student. Since then, he has never stopped traveling, having visited more than 45 countries on six continents.
Since 2007, Jay has been a full-time travel writer and photographer, regularly contributing feature stories and photos to a wide variety of magazines and newspapers. He writes regularly for websites and publications including Lonely Planet, the Los Angeles Times and the Chicago Tribune.
Jay is an expert on travel in the American Southwest as well as the Midwest, where he was born and raised. One of his passions is riding the rails, both aboard tourist and long-distance trains.
