Their musical may have had to close its doors for the moment because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but the cast of the Broadway musical, Jagged Little Pill, have united virtually to sing a song in support of frontline workers
The musical opened in December 2019 and features the lyrics and songbook of Alanis Morissette, with music supervision, orchestrations and arrangements by Pulitzer Prize-winner, Tom Kitt. It's an original story of suburban subversion written by Academy Award-winning writer, Diablo Cody. The cast sang their rendition of Morrissette's song Thank U as part of "Stars in the House," the live-streamed concert series created by SiriusXM Broadway host, Seth Rudetsky, and producer, James Wesley.
The daily series launched on 16 March and promotes support for The Actors Fund and its services. Rudetsky talks to the performers and encourages viewers to donate, while Dr Jonathan LaPook makes frequent appearances to answer questions and offers best practices around COVID-19. After the Jagged Little Pill cast did their performance, they posted the video on their own channel with the message, "To those on the frontlines: our world is changing and you inspire us all to change with it for the better. For everything you’ve done — and for everything you continue to do — thank you from all of us at Jagged Little Pill. "
New episodes of "Stars in the House "air daily at 2pm ET/8pm ET, featuring performances by stars of stage and screen. Other performers who have taken part include cast members from the ABC series, Desperate Housewives, including Marcia Cross, Dana Delaney, Eva Longoria and Vanessa Williams. You can watch the videos here, including previous performances.
