It was an unprecedented year for travel, but one advantage of staying home was that it gave us plenty of time to dream up the perfect trip for when travel returns.
With vaccination efforts already beginning to roll out in some countries, many of us are hoping to once again hit the road in 2021. But where will we go? Well, Airbnb has some ideas. The accommodation site released its top trending destinations by search for trips in 2021. These are the destinations that are taking off for next year, according to Airbnb.
Bogotá, Colombia
Copa América has been postponed to 2021, giving soccer-lovers a reason to dream of a trip to Bogotá next year. But this vibrant, high-altitude capital is for more than just football fans – it’s surrounded by the beautiful Andes and boasts historic museums and hip hotels and bars.
Seoul, South Korea
All eyes were on South Korea in 2020 as the film Parasite took home a slew of Oscars and K-pop expanded its already massive cultural appeal. Now, it seems everyone with an interest in the country is eyeing a trip to this dynamic city.
Hampton, London
A year of social distancing had us all appreciating a bit of extra space to roam – even in a world capital like London. This suburb is right on the Thames, meaning you can wander along its banks and hit up spots like Hampton Court Palace, the historic home of Henry VIII.
Tisbury, Massachusetts
Many US travelers have started to dream of a trip a bit closer to home, but that doesn’t mean forgoing a glitzy island getaway with an American-twist. This town on the upscale island of Martha’s Vineyard is ideal for anyone looking to get away from it all.

However, if you want to experience the true tropical island dream, this one is the most cosmopolitan in the Maldives, while boasting the idyllic white sand beaches.
Maine, US
The Pine Tree State was due to celebrate its bicentennial in 2020, but the celebrations were moved to 2021 due to the pandemic. For travelers planning a trip there, there’s plenty to explore in its forests, coastal villages and islands.
