Rent a tiny home and a Mini car from $1 per night on this open-road fall getaway

You can live large in a tiny house from just $1 per night thanks to Airbnb and Mini USA. The two companies have paired up to offer guests a social distancing fall getaway in California or New York, complete with a Mini car that guests can pick up in their respective city and drive to their tiny home accommodation, enjoying a weekend break while exploring the open road close to home.

From September 10, guests can book a tiny home in either Marlboro, New York or Twentynine Palms, California from $1 per night (plus taxes and fees) and avail of a free Mini car for the duration of their trip. The deal is open for three select weekends this fall and includes a three-night stay in picture-perfect places where outdoor pursuits meet small-town charm.

"Envision yourself sitting pretty in a Mini while you enjoy all the local sights and fall foliage along the way," Airbnb said in a statement. "With sharp reflexes and go-karting handling, a Mini is the perfect way to get out and have fun behind the wheel while exploring the road less traveled along the way to your mini Airbnb."

The Marlboro listing in Upstate New York is close to state parks, forests, farmlands, vineyards and rivers and is ideal for leaf-peeping. Inside there's a lofted bedroom, cozy kitchen and a slate fire pit. The open-plan space has neutral décor throughout, with wooden flooring and large windows to allow the light in. That listing comes with a Mini Cooper S 4-door for a three-day weekend with check-ins available on October 16, November 6, and November 20.

In California, the Twentynine Palms listing is an architect-designed tiny home at the gateway to Joshua Tree National Park with mountain and Mojave Desert views. The two-bedroom home is solar-powered and is designed with an open-plan living room, kitchenette and packed with home comforts like high-end bathroom supplies, a coffee maker, TV and WiFi. It comes with a Mini Cooper Convertible and is available for three-night stays on November 6, November 12, and December 4.
